Erin Raab
Erin Raab is passionate about creating a more just, equitable world through a schooling system organized for human flourishing and democratic engagement. She brings 20 years’ experience in nonprofit leadership and rich expertise in literacy, social and emotional development, designing for human flourishing & democracy, and systems change. Previously, she was the Founder and Executive Director of the KwaNdengezi Library and Education Center in South Africa, a beloved center that has served 50,000+ students and educators, and Vice President of Research and Evaluation at The Future Project, a national nonprofit dedicated to empowering young people to build a life and a world they love. She is the Co-Founder of REENVISIONED, a national movement of educators, policymakers, and nonprofit leaders working to redefine the purpose of school away from individual competition and toward youth flourishing, thriving communities, and democratic engagement.
Dr. Raab earned her Ph.D. from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education, where her scholarship pertained to the question of how we can transform education systems to foster individual flourishing and a thriving democratic society. Her qualifying work explored literacy development in first and second languages in South Africa. She received her Master’s in Development Studies, cum laude, from the University of KwaZulu- Natal on a Rotary Ambassadorial Fellowship, and her BSBA from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis.
